As part of its ongoing contribution to European research and innovation in critical infrastructure monitoring<\/strong>, SKYLD LTD<\/strong> recently conducted UAV-based catenary inspection flights in Slovenia<\/strong>, in collaboration with Slovenske \u017eeleznice \u2013 Potni\u0161ki promet<\/strong> (Slovenian Railways \u2013 Passenger Transport)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity took place under the SUNRISE<\/strong> project, a Horizon Europe<\/strong> initiative focused on strengthening surveillance, situational awareness<\/strong>, and the resilience of transport infrastructure<\/strong> using emerging technologies \u2014 including autonomous drones<\/strong>, AI-powered analytics<\/strong>, and critically, edge computing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pioneering Onboard Intelligence for Rail Inspections<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During the field trials, SKYLD\u2019s UAV operators executed a series of autonomous and semi-autonomous missions over active railway corridors to inspect overhead contact lines (catenaries)<\/strong> and related infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
