Conducted under the <strong>EU-funded SUNRISE project<\/strong> (<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/sunrise-europe.eu\">sunrise-europe.eu<\/a>), this mission involved advanced <strong>UAV-enabled engineering inspections<\/strong> in remote and mountainous terrain\u2014demonstrating SKYLD\u2019s commitment to innovation in critical infrastructure (CI) protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operating at <strong>1,800 meters altitude<\/strong> in <strong>harsh alpine conditions<\/strong>, SKYLD\u2019s UAVs accessed areas inaccessible by ground teams. The mission was executed <strong>Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS)<\/strong>, leveraging <strong>satellite communications (SATCOM)<\/strong> to overcome dense forest cover and signal obstructions, while maintaining seamless, secure, high-bandwidth video streaming for real-time situational awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Highlights:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Edge Computing<\/strong>: All video analysis and inspection assessments were processed onboard the UAV in real-time, eliminating reliance on ground infrastructure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Autonomous Navigation<\/strong>: Reliable operation in <strong>GNSS-\/4G-challenged<\/strong> environments, enabled by SATCOM-based command and control.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Live Video Inspection<\/strong>: Data was streamed directly to the <strong>custom SKYLD UI<\/strong>, purpose-built for Critical Infrastructure Operators.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SUNRISE EU Project Contribution<\/strong>: This mission directly supports the SUNRISE goal of improving <strong>situational awareness in non-permissive environments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This operation highlights SKYLD\u2019s ability to combine <strong>next-generation UAV platforms<\/strong>, <strong>AI-powered analytics<\/strong>, and <strong>mission-ready interfaces<\/strong> to provide <strong>actionable insights for CI operators<\/strong>.
