Our purpose was simple and practical: <strong>listen, learn, and connect<\/strong>\u2014to understand where maritime technology is heading and to explore meaningful paths for <strong>future collaboration and exploitation<\/strong> with ship owners, managers, yards, integrators, and research stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across the sessions and discussions, one message came through clearly: shipping is moving fast toward <strong>data-led operations<\/strong>, where reliability, availability, and maintenance planning are increasingly driven by <strong>continuous monitoring<\/strong>, smarter analytics, and decision support. The industry conversation is no longer just about collecting more signals\u2014it\u2019s about turning those signals into <strong>timely, trusted actions<\/strong> that can be used onboard and onshore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.18.41_9050f2da-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1036\" srcset=\"https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.18.41_9050f2da-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.18.41_9050f2da-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.18.41_9050f2da-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.18.41_9050f2da.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What we were looking for at H.I.M.T.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our focus during the conference was to capture the real-world \u201csignals\u201d behind the buzzwords:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>How stakeholders define value in <strong>condition-based maintenance<\/strong> and <strong>predictive maintenance<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where the market is heading on <strong>machinery and hull\/structural health monitoring<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What owners and operators expect from <strong>decision support tools<\/strong> and \u201chuman-friendly\u201d interfaces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where the practical barriers still sit (integration effort, data quality, connectivity constraints, cyber considerations, and operational workflows)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.17.44_e4e16b7f-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1037\" srcset=\"https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.17.44_e4e16b7f-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.17.44_e4e16b7f-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.17.44_e4e16b7f-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/skyld.com.cy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-09-at-10.17.44_e4e16b7f.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why this matters for MHUMS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SKYLD attended the conference in direct connection to our coordination and R&amp;D work on <strong>MHUMS (Maritime Health Usage and Monitoring System)<\/strong>\u2014a proposal and technology direction aiming to improve vessels\u2019 operational capability by advancing the utilisation of data from modern monitoring systems and innovatively upgrading how that data is interpreted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MHUMS targets key areas that stakeholders repeatedly care about in day-to-day operations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Machinery, communications, and hull\/structural health monitoring<\/strong>, supported by modern data science (including <strong>AI\/ML<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Optimal sensor placement and networking<\/strong>, to improve visibility without creating unnecessary complexity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Computational modelling and lifetime extension<\/strong>, supporting decisions that are not only reactive but planned and justified<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Damage detection, diagnosis, and prognosis<\/strong>, to help reduce unforeseen breakdowns and prevent escalation into difficult operational developments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>Virtual Assistant (VA)<\/strong> environment (chatbot-style) that can quickly retrieve, filter, and interpret information from MHUMS databases, and\u2014when required\u2014provide guidance that supports decision-making<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At its core, MHUMS is about delivering a <strong>HUM-system<\/strong> that can provide reliable status information to the ship captain and to the ship owner\/management company\u2014<strong>at any time and in any situation<\/strong>\u2014while also strengthening maintenance planning and supporting smarter interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What comes next<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our participation in H.I.M.T. 2025 is part of SKYLD\u2019s broader effort to stay close to operational needs and real stakeholder priorities.
