NAVISENSE-X
Autonomous UAV Navigation in GNSS-Denied Environments through Multi-Sensor Fusion and AI-Driven Algorithms

Coordinated by SKYLD and funded under the EDF 2024 programme, Technological Challenge on multi-sensor integration for Robust Autonomous Drone Navigation, NAVISENSE-X is a strategic European defence initiative that addresses the urgent need for autonomous drone navigation in GNSS-denied and contested environments. This 48-month project leverages neuromorphic processing and hyperdimensional computing to enable seamless fusion of multi-modal sensor data within swarm formations. By introducing an innovative sensor architecture optimized for resilience and real-time adaptability, NAVISENSE-X enhances operational precision and situational awareness under electronic warfare conditions. The project also pioneers swarm-based intelligence with distributed AI agents, flexible payload-sharing, and energy-efficient, low-SWaP-C designs. By fostering European technological sovereignty and reducing reliance on non-EU systems, NAVISENSE-X lays the foundation for next-generation, autonomous UAS capabilities across complex defence missions. SKYLD is proud to lead this cutting-edge endeavour towards Europe’s strategic autonomy in defence innovation.
