MHUMS
Marine Health and Usage Monitoring System

MHUMS [Maritime Health Usage and Monitoring System] proposal, aims to obtain improved vessels’ operational capability through research & development (R&D) on advancing the utilization of data from the state of the art, and/or innovatively improve the machinery, Comms & hull ship structural health monitoring systems, using modern data science tools, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI or other) and a Virtual Assistant (VA) to provide information quickly and efficiently, based on the ability to filter and interpret information from MHUM’s databases and provide suggestions & guidance (if required) based on that information. This will address key topics, such as, sensors’ optimal placement and networking, ship system computational modelling and lifetime extension, damage detection/diagnosis and prognosis, VA’s environment (chatbot) and their integration in a decision-making system for vessels. The central objective is the development of a ΗUM-system that can monitor and provide reliable information to the ship captain and to the ship owner/management company, on the status of a ship/ships at any time and in any situation. In addition, it will support the maintenance plan of the ship and systems and prevent difficult developments (e.g., unforeseen breakdowns).
