The Department of Engineering of the University of Nicosia, in collaboration with the Cyprus Maritime Academy, Skyld Security and Defence Ltd and University of West Attica (UniWA), Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics is pleased to invite you to the conference titled:
“Maintenance Strategies in Shipping and AI-Driven Solutions”, taking place on Monday, 7 April 2025, from 17:30 to 20:00 at the UNESCO Amphitheatre, University of Nicosia.
This event will delve into cutting-edge developments in maintenance strategies within the maritime sector, highlighting the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on operational efficiency. It will serve as a platform for industry professionals, researchers, and technology innovators to exchange knowledge, present research findings, and discuss future trends shaping the shipping landscape.
Special emphasis will be given to the integration of AI-powered tools in ship maintenance operations – enabling predictive analytics, optimised scheduling, and proactive decision-making to minimise downtime and extend the service life of critical assets.
A featured highlight of the conference is the presentation of the “Maritime Health Usage and Monitoring System (MHUMS)” project. This initiative focuses on deploying AI-driven methodologies to enhance vessel performance by leveraging real-time data from advanced monitoring systems. Its goals include improving the monitoring of ship machinery, hull integrity, and onboard communication infrastructure through smart diagnostics and actionable analytics.
Key components of MHUMS include:
- Strategic sensor placement and optimisation of sensor networks,
- Computational modelling of mission-critical systems,
- Early detection, precise diagnostics, and reliable failure prognosis,
- Development of intelligent virtual assistant environments for ship operators.
The MHUMS project is funded by the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation under the CO-DEVELOP programme.
Following the conference, attendees are invited to join a networking cocktail.
